Bio
image-event is a dialogue between Tanoa Sasraku and Anastasia Xirouchakis, where memory, landscape, and the re-animation of the human body occur via photographic and sculptural stand-ins.
Sasraku's work results in sculptures that capture sites embedded within the past—both personal and geological. Xirouchakis’ photographs use objects from her surroundings to investigate sight as both a truthful and unreliable layer of information.
Both artists are interested in the meaning imbued into an object or silhouette in the absence of its origin. It is an attempt to arrange corporeal and conscious dispersal, a yearning for a container for something that no longer exists.
